Louis has been a busy little guy since he's been back in Colorado. He has been getting a lot stronger and, as you will see in the videos below, is using a variety of ways to walk, including his walker, a push toy, and a toy shopping cart. Also, Louis is cruising around the house, figuring out how to navigate between different pieces of furniture to get where he wants to go. He often spends the day playing on his feet and will ask for help when he wants to walk. Louis also started squatting down to pick up toys, so he is putting that new range of motion to work! Luckily, PT has gotten more manageable, and his stretches, which were SO unbearable to be with, are a breeze now! Go, Louis! He will get new AFO braces tomorrow, hopefully furthering his walking journey.
Since Louis turned two (!!) in January, not only did he get to make special cupcakes for his birthday, but he was due for a follow-up visit with all of his doctors. We spent the last couple of weeks in appointments with his upper extremity surgeon, lower extremity surgeon, pediatrician, and rehabilitation physician, and we still have to visit with his neurologist. All this is between weekly home PT, swim PT, and home and outpatient occupational therapy (insert exhausted emoji.) All his providers enjoyed visiting with him because they got to experience his sparkling little personality and are happy with his progress. Mom and Dad are beginning to think about when and where to have his arm surgeries to address his elbows; we're still primarily focusing on one major milestone (walking) at a time.
I mentioned Louis's sparkling personality; boy, does he have it in spades. Louis LOVES being silly- he has learned the concept of "psych," and he will use it on his parents. For example, he will act like he is going to draw on the couch, look over at Mom with a big grin, then pull his crayon back while yelling "Psych!' and fall to pieces laughing. He is also into pretending, specifically with his toy kitchen. He will have multiple dishes on the stove, in the oven, and in the microwave while dictating to his sous chefs (Mom and Dad.)
Oh, yeah! And he got his first haircut!
