In August, Louis had full leg plaster casts for two weeks to bend his knees. These casts were much thicker and heavier than the soft casts that were used on his arms and feet, but Louis would still swing his legs around like the little wild boy that he is. Unfortunately, when he got these casts off, he had several pressure sores on his legs so we had to take a break from casting and splinting on his lower extremities to allow his skin time to heal. This was his first big setback with casting but luckily his skin has been healing beautifully and mom and dad are stretching his knees and ankles every day.
While we were giving his legs a break, he had a quick round of arms casts to keep his elbow range at 90 degrees. His whole team has been really happy with his elbow range of motion. With some assistance he can get his thumb in his mouth and hold a spoon to his mouth. He also has really improved his shoulder range of motion and can reach really high for toys with control.
Some other updates with Louis:
-He's continued to put on sufficient weight
-He's got two bottom teeth (and he knows how to use them!)
-He has progressed to eating finger foods and he loves these mushy cookies his mom makes
-He moved out of mom and dad's room into his own nursery
-He can stand in his stander with both feet flat on the ground
-He's working his fingers and fine motor by playing with squishy balls and play dough
-He makes a ton of sounds
-He can twirl his pacifier 360 degrees in his mouth
-He got into the brewery without getting carded
-He is looking forward to fall weather!
