I'm walkin' on sunshine

Wow, what an incredible journey we've been on! We initially thought we'd take a break in April, but here we are, already halfway through June! But guess what? Big news - Louis is walking! Yes, you heard that right! Just six months after his surgery, he walked across the entire living room in early May. From there, he's been steadily progressing, moving from room to room in our house, even venturing to other familiar indoor spaces like his Grammy's house. While he still relies on his walker in public, Louis is showing so much determination and pride in his newfound ability. We've been practicing on different surfaces, and he's thriving! Louis is setting his own pace, and seeing him walk around the house effortlessly makes us certain that this is just the beginning for him. He still falls quite a bit- mostly on his bottom, but there have been a few big tumbles. Although, this should improve over time as Louis gets stronger. When Louis does fall, he can’t get back up by himself, so that’s the next big thing we are working on in physical therapy to get him fully independent with his mobility. Always something to work on with our little champ!

Mom and Dad are currently planning out the details of his upcoming elbow surgeries. But in the meantime, we're all about soaking up the sun and making the most of this summer. Louis is absolutely thriving, gaining confidence and honing his walking skills. This season has been a blast so far - from adventurous hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park to cheering at parades, exploring fire trucks, browsing through farmer's markets, and mingling at neighborhood barbecues. And guess what? There's more excitement on the horizon with a trip to Michigan and two bluegrass festivals lined up!

Exciting news alert! Remember when we shared about Berthoud's fundraising efforts for an adaptive playground last year? Well, guess what? They did it! The amazing family and organization behind the project have reached their goal, construction is underway, and the playground will be ready by next summer! But wait, there's more! Another park in town is getting a makeover, and all the new playground equipment will be adaptive and accessible too! How awesome is that? Louis is going to have not just one, but TWO incredible playgrounds to play in, no matter how he moves around! Huge thanks to everyone who contributed to this fantastic cause!
