Little bit further than you've gone before

It's time to provide some updates on Louis!

Louie has been making a lot of progress with his mobility in therapy.

He figured out how to scoot around the house on his bottom and he's gotten FAST. We finally had to childproof our house! It's been so great to see Louis exploring his environment on his own and moving towards something he wants.

Additionally, Louis has been getting closer to standing independently. He spends time each day standing against a wall or furniture, so he has some support. While he stands, mom and dad play with him, which encourages him to come forward briefly off his support so he feels what it's like to stand on his own. He also can stand and play while leaning on the coffee table for about 30 minutes at a time!

Louis had about 7 weeks of casts for his ankles this summer and got some new overnight splints on his feet called ADMs. He seems to be tolerating these a lot better than the boots and bar device so hopefully these will help to keep the range of motion in his feet.

Louis also had a short stint of casts on his elbows and he has been very busy using his arms lately! His OT found some great adaptive utensils which have made it easier to feed himself! He also has figured out how to suck his thumb and put a pacifier in his mouth- check out the videos below!

His summer has not all been work, though! He spent 10 days in Michigan this summer and has some Colorado trips on the horizon. Now that his casts are off, you can find him spending his time at the pool or in his sandbox!
